ASTRODOME SPACE CURRICULUM QUIZZES : INFANTS
The questions relate to Science in the National Curriculum. There are two quizzes. You may use either or both of these, depending upon the ages and abilities of the pupils concerned
The composition of the class will also determine the manner in which the questions are given. One approach is to read the questions aloud, asking children to indicate whether the statements are TRUE or FALSE by writing a tick or a cross. An alternative method would be to ask for an appropriate show of hands

QUESTIONS:
1. In spring there are lots of flowers.
2. There is a lot of snow and ice in the summer.
3. Many trees lose their leaves in the autumn.
4. Some animals sleep through the winter.
5. The Sun is very cold.
6. It is dangerous to stare at the Sun.
7. It is always sunny at midnight.
8. During the day the Sun seems to move across the sky.
9. At the end of the day the Sun always rises.
10. The Sun always rises and sets in the same place.
ANSWERS:
1. TRUE Many flowers bloom in the spring.
2. FALSE Snow and ice are usually a sign of winter.
3. TRUE Many (but not all) trees do lose their leaves in the autumn.
4. TRUE This is called hibernation.
5. FALSE The Sun is very hot.
6. TRUE The importance of not looking directly at the Sun must be stressed
to even the youngest of children.
7. FALSE In Britain, it is always dark at midnight.
8. TRUE The Sun appears to move across the sky because the Earth is turning on its axis.
9. FALSE At the end of the day the Sun sets.
10. FALSE The Sun rises and sets in a slightly different place each day.
